Knowing God: The Names of God

God is so BIG...so HUGE. His character so perfect and multifaceted. I am fascinated by the way that God has more than one name in the original languages of the Bible. He is our Provider, All sufficient one, Everlasting God, Sovereign One, Lord Most High, Husband, Shepherd, Maker, the Living God... and so much more. Do you want to know Him more? There are many studies you can tap into for this.... Here are some to start you: One by Kay Arthur "Lord I want to Know You" or if you like the devotion in your email ... here is one on Crosswalk ..."Praying the Names of God". Understand and know Him... He wants you to understand the depths of His love for you.

Another Devotion for Kids: Jesus Wants All of Me

Here is another great devotional for kids! It has a simple idea for each day of the year based on "My Utmost for His Highest". I am thinking it would be a great one for breakfast time!

Growing With Jesus

The book "Growing With Jesus" by Andy Holmes is a book of 100 daily devotionals for kids. We got it at the Book Depot box sale and we couldn't be more thrilled. The kids look forward to it! There is a bible verse and then some thoughts to grow on and application to life. And you know what... it is probably part of my daily devotion too! Who couldn't use a verse a day to grow by and reminders from God's word about "speaking no evil about anyone" (Titus 3:2) or having patience or being satisfied with what we have (Hebrews 13:5)etc! Growing With Jesus...that's for all of us. Makes me think about what He says... WALK with Me!!!

Do you have devotionals for kids that you recommend?

Proverbs 31 Ministries... Another online link!

Thanks to two people for recommending this site! Proverbs 31 ministries has great online daily devotions for women! Here is a link to this one!

http://www.proverbs31.org/

Their main page says "Bringing God's Peace, Perspective and Purpose to Today's Busy Woman." Sounds good already, eh?

Another recommendation for Crosswalk and Girlfriends in God

Thanks, Carolynn... who just recommended Crosswalk and Girlfriends in God as great resources, too!!

Here is a link to girlfriends in God:
http://www.girlfriendsingod.com/
or you can find it on the Crosswalk home page!

Crosswalk... AWESOME link!

Thanks Diane for this link!!

Go to http://www.crosswalk.com/ Crosswalk :The Intersection of Faith and Life is a super online site for bible study tools and resources! You can sign up for free and get access to newsletters, devotions, music and more. For women there is a great devotion entitled "Girlfriends in God" which you can sign up to recieve as an email.

When I just checked out the site I came away encouraged already!!! For those of us who wrestle with being like the "Proverbs 31 Woman",whom the funny author said was "like Martha Stuart on Speed" (LOL), there was a great story about "Not Feeling Good Enough"! Ultimately the woman gave up her grudge against the virtuous woman realizing that all of wrestle with feeling "not quite good enough" and that the key is not the woman herself but that "she fears the Lord". It is our link to God that makes us usable.. not who we are on our own. OKAY ... thanks Diane.. I am encouraged already!!!!!! CHECK IT OUT!

Online Devotions...Try Focus on the Family

Hmmm.. I recently discovered a new world in growing in my faith and knowledge of God... online!!! My husband and I have been recently sharing devotions on Focus on the Family... He is an auditory learner and me... well...I love reading. Reading the Bible together has not worked... alas... the copy of the bible I bought for couples has not been read except by me... alone!!
But at Focus on the Family we have found a place to connect together with God. Give it a try... and if you want to start devotions with your husband... I am sure he would agree to starting with the series on No More Headaches!!! LOL!! (Just search the title)

Here is the link:

http://www.focusonthefamily.com/
Focus on the family has specific sections on relationships, parenting, faith, entertainment, social issues, midlife etc. You can also listen to online broadcasts...that is where we started. There are good broadcasts on parenting, too.
